Lean Six Sigma
Lean Six Sigma
is a discipline based on the combination of two well-known improvement
principles, Lean and Six Sigma, which involves increased speed and reliability
of processes while minimizing waste. ASR's knowledge of the various
disciplines required within the field of Lean Six Sigma is verified
by the resumes of our Quality Personnel. ASR is capable of providing
highly talented professionals in a rapid and cost effective manner ensuring
complete customer satisfaction. This can be accomplished by using ASR's
internal database of technical experts to deploy local service at multiple
locations with minimum response time and travel cost.
Past was:
Lean. Focus in eliminating non-value
added waste in a process with goal of reducing process cycle times, improving
on-time delivery performance and reducing cost.
Six Sigma. Using statistical techniques to understand,
measure and reduce process variation with the primary goal of achieving
improvements in service quality and cost.
Today is:
Lean Six Sigma. An integrated and
balanced combination of the speed and variation reduction power of both
Lean and Six Sigma to achieve business management process full optimization.
Lean Flow DMAIC
Roadmap utilized by ASR Professionals:
- (D) Define (Organize and Begin)
- (M) Measure
(Process Data Collection)
- (A) Analyze
(Plan Process Layout)
- (I) Improve
(Physical Change)
- (C) Control
(Maintain Lean Flow Operation)
ASR implements process improvements for Six Sigma requirements in the
following ways:
- General Methods
- Upon creation and implementation of a quality system, continuous
support and effort from all personnel in the organization under the
leadership and direction of senior management. It is necessary to
create a project plan and implementation team to successfully develop
and implement a documented management system.
- Basic Quality Applications - Structured problem
solving is a significant part of process improvement and achievement
of business results. More advanced techniques of problem solving including
data collection/analysis, problem narrowing and root cause analysis
are effective for large cross functional or complex problems.
- Statistical Quality/Process Control - Many of the
techniques developed by mathematical statisticians for the analysis
of data are used in the control of quality. Although the statistical
techniques were originally used in mass production manufacturing environments,
the same techniques may be applied to other types of activities in
all sectors of the economy including service business, government,
and education.
- Other Quality Methods and Techniques
- Pure statistical analysis techniques are not an all encompassing
methodology of implementing process improvement to problem solving.
Other methodologies have been developed and implemented with success.
ASR's implementation of these quality tools within their areas of
expertise have been proven to be effective for ensuring continuous
improvement in processes, increased productivity, and higher customer
satisfaction.

Project
Management and Control Mechanisms
- All customer quality inspection support programs use
ASR's project management procedures to ensure the most effective
use of modern management tools in planning, organizing and controlling
all program activities
- ASR's quality program managers, reporting to the Director of
Programs, are assigned program responsibility. The program manager
provides a close interface with the customer and responds in a timely
and effective manner on all aspects of the program
- The ASR program management organization carefully reviews program
performance, supplier quality trends, costs, schedules, manpower,
documentation, customer presentations, corrective actions, continuous
improvement activities, test laboratory data, etc. to further ensure
on-time shipment of quality products within budgeted cost
- All inspection personnel and supervision are trained and inculcated
in the requirements, goals and procedures of the program and the
customer. Written procedures and checklists are used
- Assignments from the customer interface are logged into the automatic
data base for delegation to each inspector and follow-up/coordination
by supervisors and coordinators
- Inspection schedules are developed and controlled by means of
a proven sophisticated automated project planning system
- Cost control is maintained by the project planning system which
provides accurate and timely updates on status of program element
budgets such as cost-to-date, estimates at/to completion and variances
to budget
- Reports to the customer are reviewed and approved by ASR supervision
and program management. Customer recommendations are sought at regularly
scheduled reviews
